Aerosol Can Recycling

Q: Can you recycle aerosol cans, such as WD-40® Multi-Use Product and others?
A: Yes – with a few caveats.

Aerosol cans are made of either aluminum or steel, both of which are metals that can be recycled into new metal products. First, always read the product label for safe use and disposal. Aerosol containers that are completely empty of both propellant and contents are no longer considered household hazardous waste and can generally be recycled with other metals. If some content remains in the can, your local county household hazardous waste site is a good resource for safe recycling and disposal.
